Relationship Coaching Institute was founded sixteen years ago this month!
The Story of RCI (short version!)
In 1996 I was burning out as a Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in couples on the verge of divorce who were often seeking help as a last resort.
I stumbled across an emerging profession called “coaching” and after some initial skepticism I fell in love with coaching, sought coaching training and immediately saw the potential for coaching to make a huge impact in the world of relationships. I searched for a relationship coach training program and could find NONE, so I started developing my own approach to applying the best practices of coaching (as defined by ICF) to relationships and launched my relationship coaching practice in San Jose, CA.
My new relationship coaching practice exploded quickly and captured the attention of my colleagues who asked me to train them and share how I coached singles and couples and was able to build a highly successful practice in such a short period of time.
And this was the birth of Relationship Coaching Institute, October 1997.
