Relationship Coaching TechnologyA ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE FOR COUPLES Last month, my partner and I attended “Adventures In Intimacy,” a couples workshop with Hedy and Yumi Schlieffer. My partner Maggie and I are both relationship-oriented helping professionals who have done a lot of self-work and work hard at co-creating a conscious relationship with each other. I'm a cynic about workshops, having done so many, but in spite of all our efforts, Maggie and I have been stuck, and needed to do something about it. I first learned about Hedy and Yumi from Ed Shea, and attended a conference call featuring them a few years ago. I was blown away. I decided that if I attended another relationship workshop, they were the people I would see. Well, if you know me, it takes a lot to get me on a plane across the country, but I did so out of commitment to my relationship with Maggie. In short, this workshop was a peak experience that brought Maggie and I closer than I ever dreamed possible. We'll have to put effort into building on the progress we've made, but I am grateful to Hedy and Yumi for providing the support, tools, and inspiration I need to do so. Hedy and Yumi are unique- human, open, authentic, absolutely real. They put their heart and soul into connecting with every participant, combining their material with unconditional love, humor, and incredible wisdom, to provide a life changing experience that can't be duplicated. Besides my own experience, I saw couples on the verge of divorce experience incredible healing. I saw couples married for 25+ years leap out of their ruts and excited about their relationship again. Hedy and Yumi are a mentor couple like no other you will ever meet. They give this workshop internationally and train clinicians in Germany, Switzerland, Israel, and France, as well as the U.S. As they are increasingly in demand in other parts of the world, they are cutting back their availability in the U.S., and are no longer giving clinical training workshops here. Most prospective clients, even if they are very interested in working with you, often need a way to build a relationship with you in bite-sized pieces to work up to engaging your services. Effective marketing will ALWAYS include a SPECIFIC, EASY, TARGETED, COMPELLING, and usually FREE, call to action. Everything you send out can and should include a call to action; e-mails (in the signature line), web site, flyers, business card, advertising, announcements, newsletters, even the outgoing greeting of your voicemail system. THREE TYPES OF CALLS TO ACTION
When a prospect acts on any of the above, they are interacting with you and become a warmer lead. The three types of calls to action have different purposes and timing, and your marketing efforts should include a combination. KEY QUESTION: What can you invite your prospective clients to do, what can you offer them, that they would be likely to act upon, that would build your relationship with them? EXERCISE: Review the calls to action above and note which feel compelling to you. Which would you act upon if you were mildly interested in the service offered? Pick one or two from each category. Then, include them in your marketing efforts, taking care to compose good marketing copy. You might test different options and versions to find the most effective.
